Where we've been...
Riva Trace Baptist Church met for the fist time
on July 21, 1985 in two rooms at the Annapolis High School. The new
congregation was to be established by the Heritage Baptist Church in response
to a grant of six acres by the developer of Riva Trace, Gary Pyles. Dr.
Fred Moffatt Jr. formed a small congregation of about 20 members, establishing
"the most inviting little church in Annapolis."
For three years, Dr. Moffatt served both the established Heritage Church on
Forest Drive and the growing young "Riva Trace Branch"
simultaneously. Working with a part-time volunteer pastor, Rev. Gene
Weatherly, Dr. Moffatt oversaw the erection of their first buildings (two
"mobile" units) on their property and brought then to the point of
calling their first full time pastor.
In February of 1988, Rev. Dennis Gray accepted the invitation to serve
the new church. In the years that have followed, Pastor Gray has led a
growing body of committed believers in service to God, one another, and the
community while establishing a truly "different kind of
church." Through significant growth, RTBC has remained focused on
our mission of "loving people by leading them to Jesus, and encouraging
them to grow through true worship and service to others."
Where we're going...
The people will be the same, but the location will
change. Join us during this exciting time as we prepare to embark
on a new journey in ministry with the construction of our new building.
