Children are special to us at Kidz Central; one of our core values is to provide a safe environment for children to learn and grow, while providing peace of mind to every parent. To achieve these goals we have adopted the “Every Child Counts” security policy which provides guidelines and safety procedures for children of all ages.

 

 

Kidz Central is a secure wing of Riva Trace Baptist Church. Only pre-screened volunteers, children and parents are permitted access to the wing when children are in the building. A team of security monitors constantly observe the halls helping to enforce check-in procedures and other policy. Each classroom is equipped with emergency exits as well as bathrooms, preventing the need for children to be in the hallways. Physical safety is reflected through having room environments with age-appropriate equipment, cleaning policies and procedures and a strict wellness policy.

 

Every child must be registered to enter the children’s wing. Upon registration and check-in of children ages 0-5th grade parents are asked for a photo identification which is filed with a check-in receipt, verifying their child has been checked in. At this time parents are provided with a silent, vibrating pager so we may alert them at any time during service. Children 0-4 years old will also receive a color-coded bracelet with their name and pager number before proceeding to class. Once a child is checked-in parents are able to enter the secure space by showing their pager and walk their children to class. Upon return to the wing following service parents enter their wing, again showing their pager for access, and pick their children up from their respective classes. After picking up their children parents will proceed to the check-out station where they turn in their pager and receive their photo I.D. and the check-in receipts. As they exit via a control point they are asked to drop the receipts into a box and verify they have received their photo I.D.

 

 

 

All Children’s Ministry volunteers are screened using an application, state background check, reference checks as well as an extensive personal meeting with the children’s ministry staff. Volunteers wear photo identification badges at all times while serving allowing parents and children alike to quickly identify Kidz Central team members.

 

Riva Trace and Kidz Central maintain a 2-Deep policy; two unrelated adults will be in the children’s classrooms at all times. We also uphold state recommendations for adult/child ratios which are as follows: 1 adult per 3 children for infants; 1 adult per 5 children for ages 2-5 and 1 adult per 8 children for ages 5-10.
