At Riva Trace Baptist Church missions is not just what we DO, it is an essential part of who we ARE! Since its birth over 20 years ago RTBC has been committed to and involved in sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ both Near and Far.
On these pages you will see pictures that show some of what your church has been involved in doing in the past year and read a short synopsis of each of the major mission projects we have funded and staffed in 2010. Much more has been done to share Jesus’ love with our world than is highlighted here. On these pages you will find only those projects that were supported, staffed and funded church-wide. Many other individuals invested themselves and their resources in reaching out to our world.
Sharing Near and Far is a core value at RTBC, and an essential part of the path we have outlined for every member. We are convinced that everyone that is a part of the RTBC family should walk the path of Worshipping Weekly, Gathering in a Group, Serving on a Ministry team and Sharing Near and Far. Those four things, along with Giving Generously and Maturing Measurably form the core values we have for every part of our body.
We have a dream and goal that draws a bit closer every year. We see a day when EVERY member of the RTBC family will be actively involved in mission work. It is our conviction that almost everyone can go in some way…and they should! For those that are physically or otherwise unable to follow Jesus’ command by going, we encourage participation through prayer, fundraising and other practical means of support.
Take a few minutes and read through the stories you will find on these pages. Look at the pictures…see the faces…imagine the impact. Here you will see people just like you. Many of them you will know.
They are your friends, your family…those who sit beside you each week in worship, gather with you to study in Growth Groups and laugh and talk with you before and after the services. They are the body of Christ at RTBC.
Different in many ways, they all share one thing in common. Every one of them took the bold step of faith to obey Jesus’ call to share His love with others. And, every one of them has impacted eternity. Imagine…people just like you…touching heaven and changing earth. We sing those words from time to time. We teach the lessons of sharing our faith with our children. The people on these pages have lived it out.
As you read the stories and look at the pictures, ask yourself a question. What holds ME back? What do I need to do in order to go in 2011? The opportunities will be given again. The need is ever present. The people are still walking in darkness. You, like those on these pages, can be a light-bringer. Will you? I pray you will. I BELIEVE you will.
This coming year will be the greatest year for missions RTBC has ever experienced. I hope you will be a part of the story. Next year YOUR picture…YOUR story, can be on these pages. I pray it will be.
