School Outreach Ministry

The School Outreach Ministry started as a support to low income families of Tyler Heights Elementary School through providing basic supplies for students such as backpacks, winter coats, hygiene products and more. After COVID, the school no longer needed the church’s support and RTBC looked for other opportunities to get involved with the AACPS.

During the 2022/2023 school year, Lothian Elementary School called RTBC requesting the church’s involvement in an outdoor movie night. This grew into a relationship involving a couple movie nights each school year (indoor and outdoor) and inclusion in the school’s Trunk or Treat each October. Also in the fall of 2023, RTBC offered support to Shady Side Elementary School with their “Sneak a Peek” event. The church provided games, inflatable rides, popcorn, and snow cones to add some fun and excitement to the beginning of the school year. The “Sneak a Peek” has become an annual partnership between the school and RTBC and has even opened the door to movie nights and for mentoring volunteers to get involved at SSES. RTBC’s Food Pantry has also provided holiday meal support to several families attending Tracys Elementary School.

God has provided opportunities at each of these local public schools to share the gospel and meet physical needs of families. If you would like to get involved in this exciting and fun ministry, or would like more information, please contact [email protected]
